Distributor Snappernet has got more out of its LevelOne IP security camera agency than expected.

The surveillance system, used on Snappernet’s premises to monitor incoming pallets, paid for itself many times over recently when images it captured were used to nab a truck driver who had apparently removed items from a vendor delivery sent to Snappernet.

According to director Richard Paul, and the captured images, the distributor received the small vendor consignment in mid August, but when it was checked Snappernet found that some boxes had been opened, items removed, and the boxes then taped back up.

“It was obvious that someone had stolen the items. The challenge was finding out who,” says Paul.

Images requested from Air New Zealand cargo’s security cameras showed the original consignment was bound by yellow strapping, however the image captured as the consignment arrived at Snappernet hours later showed it had been shrink wrapped instead.

After enquiries by the delivery company’s managing director, Snappernet says the missing items were retrieved from the truck driver’s house.

Snappernet’s system comprises three LevelOne IP cameras and IP CamSecure surveillance software.
