New datacentre in Australia to serve regional cloud customers
By Reseller News Staff, Auckland | Tuesday, 22 January 2013Oracle has opened a second datacentre in Australia to meet demand from regional customers for cloud based services, the company has announced.
The new datacentre will offer additional Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings to customers wanting to keep data onshore. Customers and partners will have subscription-based self-service access to platform services and Oracle Fusion applications.
The datacentre will be housed at Equinix and all offerings will be managed by Oracle staff.
“Cloud computing is transforming the way Australian organisations approach IT by providing an alternative delivery that supports agility and innovation. Oracle Australia’s second data centre demonstrates Oracle’s ongoing commitment to offering cloud solutions to our customers. The centre will help customers to continue to meet Government regulatory requirements and help to ensure sovereignty of sensitive data,“ says Ian White, regional managing director and senior vice president, Oracle Australia and New Zealand.
