N-able looking to grow in NZ
A local office is not off the cards, says N-able president
By Ulrika Hedquist, Auckland | Monday, 25 July 2011Canada-based N-able Technologies has been in the New Zealand market for about three years and in that time has increased its channel partner base here by more than 40 percent, says N-able’s president, JP Jauvin, who visited New Zealand last week.
The company is planning continued growth here, with local marketing activities and customer seminars underway. Australia and New Zealand is N-able’s number-one sales region for the second year running, he says.
N-able provides a monitoring and management software platform for resellers that want to become managed service providers (MSP), says Jauvin. VARs (value added resellers) are starting to transform their businesses, moving away from traditional consulting to providing a more proactive, monthly managed service, he suggests. Typically N-able’s end-users are in the SMB space – companies that are too small to have the expertise and resources in-house to manage their IT environment.
As important as delivering the platform is providing partners with business guidance and helping them have a smooth transition into this new business model, says Jauvin.
“Our value proposition to our MSP channel is both technology and business practices.”
N-able is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, with offices in the UK, the Netherlands and Australia. The company is “talking about” having staff on the ground in New Zealand.
“We are currently expanding our Australian presence with more local staff [across the Tasman], and we are still reviewing our plans,” he says.
“This market [Australia and New Zealand] is among the most sophisticated MSP [markets] in the world,” he says. “Traditionally, Australia and New Zealand have always had deep technical skills. We also have some of the most advanced users [in this region] both in terms of technology and the business model we are using.”
Among N-able's local partners are Horizon Pacific Group and Atlantech.
