Gen-i wins Racing Board ICT services contract
Five-year deal will see significant cost-savings, Board says
By David Watson, Computerworld | Tuesday, 23 August 2011Gen-i has won a five-year, $26 million contract to provide ICT services to the New Zealand Racing Board, extending a relationship with Gen-i that already exists.
NZ Racing Board communications manager John Mitchell toldComputerworld the value of the contract amounts to a saving of approximately $2 million per year on current IT and telecommunication spending.
The contract includes the provision of data, internet and voice services, and contact centre and mobile services.
The services provided by Gen-i will support the rollout of enhanced retail display screens and self-service terminals at the 750 TAB retail sites.
“The screens are part of the switch to fully digital services,” Mitchell says.
The enhanced screens and self-service terminals are being tested at selected trial sites and will be rolled out to all 750 sites nationwide by the end of October, with a select number of sites to go live in time for the Rugby World Cup, he says.
The NZ Racing Board interim CEO Bill Colgan says that while the Board had an existing relationship with Gen-i, the contract was awarded after a competitive tender.
