F5 launches cloud licensing programme

New programme developed for IaaS cloud providers

Application delivery networking (ADN) vendor F5 Networks has announced the launch of a new cloud licensing programme especially developed for infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud providers.

The new programme means F5 now provides its ADN solutions in a utility billing model, giving IaaS cloud providers a better way to manage their cash flow.

“F5’s new cloud licensing programme brings the power of our ADN solutions to the cloud while offering the flexibility of a pay-as-you-go billing model,” says Kurt Hansen, managing director Australia and New Zealand at F5 Networks. “Cloud providers can realise significant benefits from participating in this programme, including a differentiated service offering, a larger target market, and enhanced revenue opportunities.”

According to the company, IaaS cloud providers have so far had to buy the necessary infrastructure to sufficiently address customer demands.

The programme allows IaaS cloud providers to offer a full range of virtual BIG-IP solutions without incurring additional up-front costs. Additional benefits that IaaS service providers enjoy under the cloud licensing programme include advanced services on a complete application delivery platform and spin up and spin down on demand.

Additionally, F5 has created a channel-specific programme, named Cohesion, which allows traditional channel partners to engage in cloud-specific opportunities and sell a specialised software solution to their qualified customers. The new channel programme means F5 channel partners have the opportunity to engage with IaaS cloud providers.
