Dimension Data consolidates cloud businesses
OpSource and BlueFire now under the Dimension Data corporate brand
By Reseller News Staff, Auckland | Friday, 12 October 2012Dimension Data has announced that it is bringing its cloud businesses, OpSource and BlueFire, under the Dimension Data corporate brand, a move that the company says will enable the acceleration of its cloud strategy.
“The combined competencies and capabilities of Dimension Data, OpSource and BlueFire are key differentiators for the Group: each bring unique skills sets, business processes and intellectual property - cloud orchestration, management, and over-the-top services," says Steve Nola, Dimension Data Cloud Solutions' CEO. “By rebranding OpSource and BlueFire to Dimension Data, we will be able to leverage our collective experience, including our Managed Cloud Platforms (MCPs), CloudControl cloud management system, and public and private cloud service offerings, to execute complex, multi-national cloud projects."
Nola adds that the company will be "adding a significant number of new employees to the Cloud Solutions Business Unit in 2013". "We are confident the Dimension Data Cloud strategy will accelerate, and allow us to become a leader in the computing industry."
Dimension Data made its first strategic investment in Australian BlueFire in 2008. In mid-2010, it took a further stake in the company and, at the same time, acquired a majority stake in Netforce. As a consequence of the investment, the two companies merged operations under the BlueFire brand. In December 2011, Dimension Data acquired the balance of shares in BlueFire. OpSource was acquired by Dimension Data in June 2011.
