Global IT outsourcing firm Infosys Technologies has established its first local office, in Wellington.

It chose the site because of the proximity to major clients such as Telecom, for which it is implementing a project to establish a testing services capability

Infosys says it will have up to 100 staff working in New Zealand at any one time, across clients’ sites and its new office.

ANZ CEO and managing director Jackie Korhonen says it wanted to be “closer to the action” after 12 months of steady growth here.

“New Zealand is an important market for us and we’ll be pursuing both new business and partnership opportunities in the New Year as well as continuing to service our existing clients,” Korhonen says.
