Apple has today launched Final Cut Pro X v10.0.3, what it describes as a "significant update" to its professional video editing app.

According to the company, several new features including multicam editing that automatically syncs up to 64 angles of video and photos, advanced chroma keying for handling complex adjustments within the app, and enhanced XML features have been added.

Final Cut Pro X will now automatically sync clips from a shoot using audio waveforms, time and date, or timecode data to create a Multicam Clip with up to 64 angles of video, which can include mixed formats, frame sizes and frame rates, Apple said.

Advanced controls including colour sampling, edge adjustment and light wrap have been added to the chroma key and the enhanced XML will provide a richer interchange with third party apps and plug-ins that support the Final Cut Pro X ecosystem, the company said, including DaVinci Resolve and CatDV.

In addition, there's a broadcast monitoring feature included, which is officially still in beta, and allows you to connect to waveform displays, vectorscopes, and calibrated, high-quality monitors to ensure that your work meets broadcast specifications. It's also compatible with Thunderbolt I/O devices, as well as through third party PCIe cards.

It's available now from the Mac App Store as a free update for those who already have Final Cut Pro X, otherwise it'll cost you £199.
