Sony launches new Vaio PC range

Claims the Vaio RT is the world's first quad-core all-in-one PC

Sony has announced a new range of Sony Vaio all-in-one PCs aimed at taking on Apple's iMac. Sony claims the Vaio RT is the world's first quad-core all-in-one PC.

Built for both home entertainment and design capabilities, the Vaio RT all-in-one desktops include an Intel Core 2 Quad processor, Windows Vista Ultimate and 4GB of RAM. The system is contained within a 25.5in full HD LCD display. There's 1TB of hard disk storage, a Blu-ray drive and a 512MB nVidia GeForce9600M graphics setup, as well as a speakerset complete with subwoofer, and HDMI input.

The Sony Vaio RT comes bundled with photo-editing applications Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop Elements, as well as other Adobe applications such as the video editor Premiere Elements.

According to the Sony Vaio website, the Sony Vaio VGC-RT1SU will retail for £1,999 inc VAT.

Sony also announced upgrades to its Sony Vaio L-Series, with the launch of the Vaio LV and Vaio LN PCs. Each of the dual-core PCs is focused on home-entertainment, with Blu-ray drives and 24in and 20in screens respectively.

The Sony Vaio VGC-LN1M retails for £999 inc VAT, and the VGC-LV1S for £1,399 inc VAT.

Completing the new lineup, Sony announced the Vaio JS all-in-one PC. Built to take up very little desk space this 20in Vista Home Premium model packs a dual-core chip and 3GB RAM into what Sony calls a: 'modest footprint.'
